I created a basic style guide for the site

I wanted to create an illustrative representation of WiCS as the cover!

Because we did not have much content (photos/videos) to feature on the site, I wanted to create an illustrative representation of WiCS as our main cover.

I thought a fun way to represent our club was to use familiar elements that you’d see specifically at our school and department.

Bringing some of the personality from our UC Davis campus and students into the illustration aimed to engage viewers and even potentially give them something they might identify or connect with!

Making each Graphic Element in Illustrator

The concept of the cover is a top view of a female student studying CS at UC Davis. I illustrated items like a hydroflask - a common water bottle you’ll spot anywhere at my school, a UC Davis student lanyard, notes from class (I chose ECS 122a - Algorithm Design & Analysis), and of course a laptop!

The details, like the cow print and class notes were placed to truly capture the essence of being at Davis and bring in Relatability with taking the courses in our program and having an interest in Computer Science.
