CU @ Home Logo
Making a logo for my brother's club at Columbia!
My brother asked me if I could help him make a logo for a club he started, CU @ Home, at his college. This was my first logo creation!

CU @ Home's purpose is to find students, particularly first-years, a home on campus by connecting them with on-campus organizations. This is in effort to help students define their purpose on campus at Columbia University.

Challenge
Help my brother, as little sisters do 😇
This was a brand new club created by my brother while he was attending the university. He asked me to create a logo for this club. The only restriction was that the logo should be on brand with the university (and would have to be approved by them as well).
Concept
First I looked at existing logos for organizations at Columbia to get a sense of what direction to take
I liked the idea of using Columbia's crown as the frame of the logo and altering it to represent something that the University offers. This idea led me to want to make the crown represent a place. The intention of the club was to give a "home" inside of the university for students. I wanted to expand on that and incorporate the city of New York as well. Together, I wanted to convey to students the idea that both the university and this club can be thought of as their welcomed place and "home".
Iterations
I mainly worked on Illustrator to try different ideas and work through versions to reach the final logo
The final logo showcases the city of New York inside of the Columbia crown. The center of the logo showcases the “home” to highlight that aspect of the club’s purpose. As a whole, it represents that the club is a place that students are welcomed in at the University in New York.
